MSW Case: Lawsuit, DHS unveil allegations of sexual, verbal abuse

A recent lawsuit and Department of Human Services (DHS) inspection summary have unveiled more details against Heritage Springs Memory Care, where two teenage employees reportedly abused elderly patients and took naked photos of them.  Attorney Erica C. Wilson of Murray, Stone & WIlson, PLLC, based in West Conshohocken, filed the lawsuit on behalf of resident Alice Longenberger and her family.

“This ongoing torture went on for months, in the supposed comfort of the ‘home’ for residents. The day-after-day reality facing these residents was a far cry from the promised ‘nurturing environment’ on Heritage Springs Memory Care Center’s webpage.”

Wilson also accused Heritage Springs of being “often staffed by children and hooligans, if at all,” explaining that Longenberger’s family regularly stayed after-hours due to “insufficient” and untrained care.

Both Wilson and Buffalo Valley Regional Police, who handled the investigation and charged Cox, allege that family members of the residents had complained to staff multiple times about staff’s behavior and treatment.
